This visionary research and design initiative for NEOM region redefines the paradigm of urban illumination for next-generation civilizations. By looking beyond traditional utility, the project establishes a forward-thinking manifesto for contemporary nightscapes, balancing human experience with absolute environmental stewardship.
Our analytical framework and design philosophy are anchored by four core pillars:

The core objective of this project was to pioneer prospective models for urban and rural nightscapes under an ambitious target of zero light pollution. Rather than viewing illumination in isolation, our methodology considers the evolution of the entire holistic nighttime ecosystem. This includes analyzing the intersections between smart vehicular technologies, dynamic building envelopes, shifting human behaviors, and local biodiversity.
Commissioned to shape the nightscape of the NEOM region, the mission yielded actionable, scalable strategies for both immediate and long-term development:
Knowledge Transfer & Capacity Building: We successfully integrated advanced lighting literacy and experiential design principles into the current workflows of designers and engineers within the NEOM Municipality.
Curated Civic Experiences: Designed a diverse portfolio of immersive, site-specific lighting environments tailored to captivate future citizens and global visitors alike.
Technological Innovation: Conceptualized and proposed cutting-edge infrastructure trials, featuring highway-integrated, solar-powered LED systems and low-impact, luminous landscape sculptures.
Ecological Preservation & Zoning: Developed stringent regional guidelines and environmental buffer zones to completely mitigate light pollution. This critical framework protects the delicate local ecosystem—where the majority of indigenous species are nocturnal—while simultaneously delivering low-impact, captivating nighttime attractions.
