THINKING
Cyril Lamy, our Creative Director, redefines spatial design by creating architecture through the scenography lens and with the transformative power of light.
His global journey, spanning classical training in France, collaborations with performing artists, and cultural immersion in Asia, has shaped a unique approach that fuses space, movement, time, and culture.
In perfect dialogue with their environment, Cyril’s designs are built to leave a lasting impression. He doesn’t just build spaces; he leverages a lifetime of experience to craft unforgettable experiences.
Process
1 Absorbing
Every place already contains stories: its geography, its climate, its history, its culture, its people, its beliefs, its rhythms. My role is to listen carefully enough to discover what is already there, to uncover it.
2 Interpretation
Like a scenographer interprets words into spaces, I translate these layers into spaces, Culture into atmosphere, Memory into material, Emotion into light. Design is not an act of self-expression, it is an act of understanding, translation and care.
3 Choreography
Narrative through space is choreography. It unfolds through movement, atmosphere, light, rhythm, surprise and pause: the sequences through which people encounter and experience those stories.
4 Composition
Architecture, scenography and light have become the instrument that give that story a physical form, allowing visitors to experience them through space, atmosphere and time, authentically. And I am researching till it resonates, like tuning an instrument, till everything suddenly aligned.
5 Experience
Spaces can enable stories and create places that continue revealing themselves over time, setting for everyone own story. As theater creates the condition for imaginary world, I design places where interpretation and personal narrative are possible, my reward is the memory created in another people mind.
Experiential Space ?
Experiential spaces are not generic and far beyond standard aesthetics, they are physical environment turns into a story, shifting the audience from passive observers into active participants : Experiential Spaces offers living experience.
To achieve this, Cyril orchestrates environments that speak to every sense. He choreographs an intricate, multi-sensory relationship between light, texture, sound, and form, treating every physical element as a vital piece of dialogue in an unfolding story.
By embedding a clear narrative directly into space, he ensures that visitors don’t just pass through, they connect, remember, and carry the experience with them long after they leave.
While a story is the inherent history of a place, a spatial narrative is its physical translation. Cyril believes that every environment already possesses an identity shaped by its landscape, culture, and people. His role as a designer is not to invent new fiction, but to uncover the existing soul of space and translate it into a coherent physical journey.
This process requires deep, connective empathy. Cyril designs intentionally for how a space is felt, constantly anticipating how visitors will receive it. Rather than forcing a single viewpoint, he leaves the narrative open, treating guests like a theater or cinema audience, entirely free to forge their own personal connections.
Storytelling vs. Narrative
The Design Vision
Designing experiential architecture requires holistic thinking centered entirely on human perception and emotion. Cyril masterfully bridges grand creative vision with rigorous, practical strategy, absorbing technical and functional demands directly into the seamless visual expression of the space.
Transcending rigid modern theories and international trends, Cyril’s work is authentic, hospitable, and emotionally resonant. His designs are a thoughtful collage of local materials, heritage artifacts, and contemporary structures. He deliberately plays with tension, between past and present, known and unknown, permanent and fragile, to spark genuine emotion, allowing the visitor's imagination to unfold naturally rather than forcing a narrative upon them.
Ultimately, this vision carries a profound responsibility toward people and the planet. By designing with future generations in mind, Cyril ensures that environment remain the true heart of the story, and wish to reconnect them with the stars.
Nightscape Approach
We are at a pivotal crossroads where design demands scientific precision, yet a purely technological approach risks standardizing our environment, erasing the rich emotional and cultural nuances of light.
True lighting design must act as a bridge, harmonizing technical science with evocative art. To solve this, we must view the dark through a holistic lens: the nightscape.
Rather than isolating light fixtures to solve isolated problems, this approach treats the entire nighttime environment as a unified canvas, weaving together architectural facades, illuminated landscapes, ambient signage, and public art installations.
By designing for the complete nightscape, Cyril transforms the nocturnal city and landscape from a functional grid into an immersive evening experience. This new approach ensures that urban environments don’t just stay lit after dark; they awaken with atmosphere, identity, and profound human connection.
